Card no 87 – Mike (maikel) – Venlo, Netherlands

This card shows Mike’s home city of Venlo in south Netherlands, right on the German border.

On October 14th 2011 PostNL launched a real  Postcrossing stamp! Well done the Dutch postal service.   The stamp was designed by Garech and Declan Stone, and features all kinds of traditional postcards strewn about, as if scattered on your doormat.

This is what the stamp sheet looks like:

There are several different stamps, both for Europe and the rest of the world, featuring the traditional postcard motifs.

This card arrived on 8th June, travelled 405 miles and took 9 days.

Total so far – 267,633 miles; 22 countries (including 8 US States).

Countries from which I have received cards as at 1st June 2012 are shown in green on this – map
